Slow morning in the Japanese countryside

Eau de Parfum | 50 mL | 1.69 fl Oz

Smells like
Think of this fragrance as sitting somewhere between Parfums de Nicolai’s Eau de Yuzu, with its sparkling citrus clarity, and Macanudo Maison d’ETTO, with its soft, introspective green tea hush—while Matcha Magnétique leans more serene and garden-fresh. It opens with a gentle brightness—yuzu and bergamot like sunlight through paper screens—then softens into green matcha, dewy grass, and pale magnolia petals. The drydown is sheer and musky, with ambrette and cedarwood settling like a calm breath after a ritual. The result is light, quiet, and soul-clean—like sipping warm tea in a silent garden, surrounded by green and nothing else.
Feels like
Wearing Matcha Magnétique feels like a slow morning in the Japanese countryside—green leaves, soft rain, a quiet garden, and warm tea. A gentle ritual of grace, lost in today’s rushing world.
The Story
You wake up to the sound of rain easing into silence. Outside, the garden glistens—leaves still dripping, stones dark with moisture, air thick with the scent of earth and green. Somewhere nearby, water is heating. A small room, tatami underfoot, and everything is still. There’s no conversation, only intention. The matcha is whisked with care, the way it’s always been. Time feels slow here, but not heavy—like the world has agreed to pause for just a moment. Matcha Magnetique is a scent shaped by quiet mornings in the Japanese countryside—fresh, green, grounded. It carries the calm of rituals, the beauty of doing something just for the sake of it. No rush, no noise. Just presence. It feels like walking barefoot through a wet garden. Like breathing in peace. Like returning to yourself, without needing a reason.

There is no matcha in this. Yuzu, bergamot. Yes. Fresh cut grass. Yep. Musk cedar in the dry down. Sure…. although it’s not a very good cedar. Sharp aftershavey cedar.
This one has me confused. I was excited for this one after the spot on Hinoki wood note in Murasaki Bookshop but this was a let down. Safe for work. Don’t care much for it personally.

  3. Gautam Badani

It’s beautiful for a cologne, but if you’re expecting something with more of a dark, richly green, ceremonial-grade matcha (or the matcha frapp/latte sort), keep looking. This is a fresh matcha leaf based fragrance, with citrusy initial impressions. Easily wearable and non-offensive.

  4. Disha Kataria

Clean soft green note with a hint of floral notes. Very pleasant. 9/10
