Seian Monastery

It is smoky poetry in a bottle. Among the earlier editions Muradaki Bookshop has been favourite-- smokey pepper story. Seian Monastery takes the meditative narrative to the next level. It is a fragrance that reduces stress and makes me feel self contained and confident. I wear it mostly on days of intense work and focus. The fragrance provides me with an armour of calm and peace. If you love woody notes Seian Monastery can be addictive. A classic composition indeed.

It is perfect. The sandalwood lingers around even after days. It’s really surprising how you guys literally capture the very essence of the theme of your perfume. Good product

Too expensive. Formulation is good and one of the best.

The name does justice to the fragrance

I just got a sample of the passages set, and this is the first one I tried, let me say I am impressed, and I take my perfumes seriously. First up, thank you for existing, we need such meditative perfumes without niche prices.

It smells like a monastery alright, but the monastery is in a lush green forest, and the smell of crushed leaves, sap, and mossy damp really sings with the myrh and frankincense. I suspect a tiny touch of benzoin, but it is really tiny, otherwise it gets heavy. This is resinous, balsamic, but the green keeps it from becoming too heavy.

There is sunlight filtering through, plenty of airiness, and the scent of forest mingled with a monastery where incense burned a while back, and now the resinous scent lingers. Cannot wait to try more.

Also bonus points for the beautiful packaging, cute postcard, paper bag.

An amazing perfume with the cleanest sandalwood I have ever smelt. Longevity is around 6 hours with a fragrance bubble of around 1 feet around. All in all a very calming perfume, for vacations or day offs. The quality is stunning and it really does transport you to a temple. Would have enjoyed a little more if the projection was better but for this type of setting a longer projection would kill the vibe. It's a smell for your nose only.

This is exactly what I was looking for. It smells like a high-end temple in Kyoto. The sandalwood is creamy and authentic, not synthetic at all. It’s very calming and perfect for rainy days or when I’m working from home and need to focus. Truly a masterpiece of woody scents.

Like the insides of a monastery in the HImalayas, untouched by intruders. A beautiful, wearable incense that you can wear to a spa or a meditation class. :) SUCH a beautiful bottle. Kanzan's packaging is truly elite.

I’ve tried many incense-based perfumes, but Seian Monastery hits differently. It lacks that 'soapy' finish some others have. The agarwood gives it a mysterious depth that lasts all day. I get compliments every time I wear it, though people usually ask what 'incense' I'm wearing rather than what perfume.

It's so warm and calming, it really soothes you. It's like being hypnotized. It really invites you to just come & sit down, while it calming you by wanting to breathe in deeper by inhaling this, forthcoming spiritual smoke

While I appreciate the artistry here, this is more of an 'experience' than a perfume. It smells exactly like the cold stone and old wood of a temple, which is cool for five minutes, but I don't actually want to walk around smelling like a damp basement and unlit incense all day. It’s very moody and a bit depressing. If you’re into Goth or Dark Academia vibes, you might like it, but for a normal social setting? It’s a hard pass.

I respect the craft here, but I found this a bit difficult to wear out. It smells very literally like a monastery,lots of smoke and old wood. It feels more like a room scent or something for a specific ceremony rather than a personal perfume. If you want to smell like ancient history, go for it, but it’s not for me.

Lovely fragrance

Feels like you are literally in a Buddhist monastery.
Such a beautiful incense fragrance like you can feel the vibes of a calm monastery in outskirts. Very useful for people who like meditation and a calm atmosphere around.

Great work by House of Kanzan. You guys literally give what you say without filters.

Definitely an incense Oriented fragrance but not smoky. There's a mild sweetness to this perfume.. unlike other incense fragrances, this doesn't feel warm.. this could be worn anytime except at high heat weather. Gives a sense of calmness !
