Simple, clear poems about the beauty of life’s small moments.
Eau de Parfum | 50 mL | 1.69 fl Oz
Smells like
Think of this fragrance as sitting somewhere between Diptyque’s Eau de Lierre, with its green, dewy freshness, and Bvlgari’s Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert, with its gentle tea serenity—while Poets of Kyoto leans more contemplative and airy. It blends cool green tea, soft citrus, and whispering herbs, like a quiet morning in a Kyoto garden after the rain. It gives off a sense of calm clarity—fresh, meditative, and effortlessly graceful, like verses drifting on a breeze.
Feels like
Wearing this feels like a quiet walk through a Kyoto garden. Tea garden, soft citrus, and gentle herbs wrap around you like morning air. It’s fresh, clear, and thoughtful—like a slow breath or a drifting poem. Calm and graceful, it stays close, like peace on your skin.
The Story
They didn’t seek fame or followers, nor did they care for the rush of city life. Instead, they lived in a serene village surrounded by bamboo groves and still ponds, where time seemed to slow down. Their days began with the soft light of dawn, as they gathered by the water, writing simple, clear poems about the beauty of life’s small moments. The sway of a tree branch, the ripple of a pebble dropped in a pond, the scent of rain—these were the things they captured in their words.

Just two words – loved it ! 😍

A perfume that grows on you.
The first time I smelled it, I hated it. Didn’t like the initial punch or even the middle notes that came right after, it was unique and it didn’t feel like my kind of scent.
I gave it a try again, then again – and each time – it grew on me. To quote one of my favourite quotes – “I fell in love with it the way you fall asleep – slowly, then all at once.”
Projection is really good, and sillage is decent. The dry down on skin feels very very nostalgic.
It smells like you’re in your childhood and just walked into an old temple full of leaves and lotus and flowers blooming.
It’s not a blind buy, the smell is very unique and not a mass appealer.
When I wear it, I feel old school and it smells like nostalgia I can’t describe. A smell I can’t describe well yet feels so familiar.

I absolutely love this! I’ll be honest, the reason I ordered it was the name. It invoked beautiful imagery of ancient Japan. After reading the founder’s story, I realised it wasn’t an accident, but derived from a deep love of Asian culture.
The packaging is beautiful – it was wrapped in the Japanese art of gift wrapping. The beautiful art on the box as well as a description of the term ‘yugen’ were all part of the experience which was very rich. These small details matter.
The perfume itself is very beautiful. Especially for older women in their 40’s who don’t like the traditional floral and fruity fragrances which they may have favoured in their youth. It is very rich and the combination of the top, middle and base notes are very unique – like a one of a kind woman, who has experienced the beauty of nature and life, lived and laughed, has had her share of sorrows and has now aged with grace. That’s how I would describe it, at a personal level. It is exotic. The kind that would make heads turn. It is an amazing scent and the dry down lasts almost 24 hours on clothes. The transition from the top to the middle to the base notes is very fluid. This is an enigmatic scent, leaving people wondering.

More linear, less complex version of Bvlgari Thé Vert. Less polarizing I would say but also more boring. Very pretty scent, beautifully crafted, lasts surprisingly long for such a light airy scent, 8 hours easy.
Smells like sweet green tea, with a little citrus (which is perfect, I hate tea scents with overpowering citrus). I get something oddly lemongrassy in the middle where for an hour or two it kinda smells like fancy mosquito repellent, dry down lasts and projects forever. I actually think it’s stronger in the dry down. It’s really calming, like a spa, and I might pick up a bottle as an ambient spray. Would work well as an office scent too.
I also think it might be good for layering as my biggest issue with it is its lack of complexity.
